BIOGRAPHY
Daniel Artana, Ph.D. in Economics, UCLA
Daniel Artana earned his degree in Economics from the National University of La Plata in 1980 and obtained a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1988. He is the Chief Economist at the Foundation for Latin American Economic Research (FIEL) and has conducted work for the following countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Slovakia, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Lesotho, Peru, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Swaziland, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe.
He is a Business Economics professor at UCEMA, Full Professor of Economic Policy at the National University of La Plata, and Visiting Professor of Tax Economics at Torcuato Di Tella University.
His professional work and publications have primarily focused on the following areas: Analysis of the economic outlook in Argentina and Latin America. Fiscal policy studies (economic analysis of taxes and government spending, fiscal policy sustainability, fiscal federalism, and pension reform). Studies on public service regulations and competition policy.
