Mark Gibson
Senior Investment Director, ILS, Schroders Capital
Mark Gibson is a Senior Investment Director and member of the Senior Management Team of the Insurance-Linked Securities (ILS) area at Schroders Capital. He has more than 35 years of experience in the reinsurance and alternative capital markets.
A graduate of the University of Exeter, Mark began his career in 1987 in the traditional reinsurance market before joining the ILS segment in the late 1990s. He has been a pioneer in the sector: he placed the first coverage for a Lloyd’s syndicate using capital markets capacity through the Chicago Board of Trade and co-structured the first series of Atlas Re catastrophe bonds sponsored by SCOR in 1999.
Throughout his professional career, he has held senior management positions at BNP Paribas, Argo Group, and Neon Underwriting, where he structured special purpose vehicles (SPVs), issued catastrophe bonds, and developed third-party capital management platforms. In 2020, he joined Schroders Capital to lead the development and management of ILS products within the firm’s private assets division.
In his current role as Senior Investment Director, Mark leads business development and the long-term strategy of Schroders Capital’s ILS team.
